Liquid Damage Repair | From £40.00

Many laptops have had thier lives cut short by liquids. Water, tea, juice, coffee, wine, etc when spilt on your laptop can mean disaster.

IMMEDIATE STEPS TO TAKE FOLLOWING A SPILL!

  1. If the laptop is still on, hold down the power button to shut down quickly.
  2. Remove the AC Adapter if connected
  3. Remove the battery
  4. Ideally, remove HDD & RAM (If you are confident and able to do this quickly)
  5. Place the laptop in a dry location, propped in such a way water can leave from the same point of entry.
  6. Leave for a MINIMUM of 24 Hours.
  7. Get the laptop components cleaned professionally (Ideally by us, FM Tech) ASAP
It's not so much the liquid that is dangerous, its what was dissolved in the liquid that gets left on the components. It is generally corrosive to system boards and causes more damage the longer it is left. This same residue also "blocks" messages between components.

In many cases after a spillage the laptop will not boot up, or will not turn the screen on.
However, after carefully administering a clean to the components with pure chemicals, we can clean them thoroughly, restoring the laptop to life.
There can sadly be no guarantees with this service, as sometime the damage has been done. That said, our success rate has been excellent.

This service costs between £40.00 - £85.00 on average.
The prices varies as some laptops are quicker to dissemble and have less screws, others have larger system boards or split boards. These variables effect the time required working on them and the amount of cleaning solution required.
This service takes a couple of days as the components must be dried thoroughly before reassembling the laptop.
Should this fail to restore life to the laptop there is a £10.00 fee to cover the cost of solution and applicators during the process.
